Dealing with sin
Divide the group into smaller groups (2 or 3). Make a list of as many sins as you can. After they have finished, tell them to circle the top 2 or 3 sins that people their age deal with. Discuss.
Sin is kind of like pulling weeds in the yard. It is something we constantly work to get rid of. Why do you think we have to constantly work to keep sin out of our lives?
Some sins we think of as evil and some as not a big deal. Why is it dangerous to think of some sin as not a big deal?
List three sins that are considered acceptable or not a big deal by some of your peers?
James 1:14-15 – Each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Having a wrong desire is not a sin, but it can turn into a sin.
- Why is it important that we deal with wrong desires?

- What can we do about wrong desires don’t seem to go away? How can we keep them from turning to sin?
As a group: make a list of the reasons a Christian should work to remove sin. Put the list in order of importance. Discuss why each reason matters.

What does it mean to look intently and continue in God’s word?
