On a scale of 1 to 10: 1 being a leader 10 being a follower, where do you see yourself? Why?

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.  -Romans 12:2

In what ways have you felt pressure to conform to what others were doing?

What do you think is meant by “pattern of this world.”

Not conforming

Living for Jesus can be a real challenge.  If we want to truly live for him, there are some keys things that will help us do that:

1. Hear and obey God’s word

Do you find it challenging to obey God’s word? Why?

How can you increase your understanding of God’s word?

How will striving to obey God’s word make you different?

2. Be in the world but not like the world

What do you think it means to be in the world but not like it?

When someone pressures you to do something wrong, the best way to say no is:
(A)Make up an excuse. (B) tell them its wrong and won’t do it   (C) Simply say “no” (D) Suggest something else  (E) other:______

3. Be prepared for rejection

Have you ever been afraid people would reject you if you lived your faith openly?

Have you ever been rejected or put down for your faith?

How does fear of others’ opinions affect the way you act?

What would you do?

Imagine you are hanging out at a friend’s house with 4 or 5 friends.  Everyone decides to watch a movie but the movie they put on has a lot of inappropriate stuff in it. What do you do?

You are hanging out with your friends at an Amplify event.  A couple of your friends start talking bad about someone else in the group, what do you do?

Give some advice:

Your friend Bill tells you every time he hangs out with some other friends he gives in to pressure and vapes.  What advice would you give him?

You notice that Paul doesn’t act the same at school as he does at church. What advice do you have?

Before giving her opinion Julie waits to hear what her friends say.  Advice?
