The Great Commission

Before Jesus went to be with the Father he gave us this mission:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  – Matthew 28:18-20

  • According to this passage, what is a goal that we should have?
  • Why is this something that is important to Jesus?
  • Why is it easy for us to go days or weeks without even thinking about this important mission God put us on?

On a mission

The mission of Amplify is:

To create a place where the unconnected get connected.

What does it mean for the unconnected to get connected?

If we were doing this really well, what would our youth group be like?

Why would it be bad if we forget about this goal?

What is your role in accomplishing this mission?

In order to connect people, we must invite new people, involve them in what we are doing, and inspire them toward Christ.

How did you get invited to church?

What is it like inviting someone to church?  What are some good ways to do it?

Why do you think people are hesitant to come to church?

Why is it important that we involve people that come to Amplify?  What are some practical ways that we can do this?

When you first came to Amplify, what made you feel connected?  What made you uncomfortable?

What is difficult about involving people who are new to Amplify?

How have the people at Amplify inspired you to grow in God?

What things do we do that help others grow?

Imagine:  Do you think you can make a difference in someone’s life? Why or why not?
