What is something you are really good at? (school, cooking, sports, gaming)
What is a weakness?
Everyone has weaknesses. Why do we often try to hide our weaknesses from others?
What could be the benefit of talking to others about your weaknesses?
Attitude
We often use weaknesses as an excuse to say “I can’t do something.”
Here are some examples:
I can’t get a good grade because I am bad at math.
I can’t be happy because I am easily stressed out.
- Why is it dangerous to use weaknesses as an excuse to not get better?
- How can we change our attitude from “I can’t because I am weak” to “even though I am weak I can?”
Bible
2 Corinthians 12:10 – I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
How can we find joy despite our weaknesses?
How can we find strength in Christ when we feel weak?
Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
What’s the difference between God working all things for our good and all things being good?
Have you ever seen God use a bad thing to bring good in your life?
It says that God works for the good of “those who love him.” Why is this important for us to know?
Make it personal
What do you feel is a weakness for you? Think about emotional things, faith, sin, relationships, decision making.
How can we turn this over to God?
